Cleaning your copiers glass or also known as the platten Glass is easy and
sometimes can save you a service call that could have been avoided.

Notice that there are 2 Glass surfaces on this model The one were the finger is pointing is for the adf unit or the auto doc feeder this small glass strip is were the paper passes over and the scanner stays stationary during the copy process the larger
glass is for flat surface copying.

Look for imperfections such as "white out" stuck to the glass surface typically this can be removed with you finger nail and a little Glass cleaner Never use a metal objects on the surface of the glass to try and clean it, if you scratch it it will show up on your copies.

A great way to know if your copies look dirty from the glass is to run a couple pages through the doc feeder if the glass is dirty it will portray lines going down the length of the paper if the flat surface glass is dirty it will show up on your copies as it appears on the glass surface.

Cleaning the glass is easy simply use glass cleaner and a paper towel you can use plain paper also some old copier techs still believe paper cleans better then paper towel and will avoid streaks.

Removing the glass
Turn Power Off
I will say this again unplug the copier and turn it off before doing this. every copier has 2 screws at the front of the glass its very simple to remove these 2 screws and actually remove the platten glass to clean the under side if you choose to do this this s a good time to also clean the mirror frames located below the glass.

Dampen your paper towel with a little glass cleaner DO NOT spray in the device and lightly rub the mirror frames to clean them.
